At What Age Should I Start a Skincare Routine?

You can start a skincare routine as early as your pre-teen or teen years—around age 12–14 is a common time to begin. That’s typically when hormone changes start to affect the skin, like increased oiliness or acne. It really does depend on your skin and what it needs. Keep in mind that beginning your skincare routine with all-natural organic ingredients will start you off on the right foot. And it’s never too late to start, whether you're 15, 25, or 50.

Here’s a rough age guide:

Ages 12–18 (Teens)

  • Goal: Keep skin clean, manage oil, and prevent acne.

  • Routine: Gentle cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen (AM), spot treatment if needed.

Ages 18–25 (Young Adults)

  • Goal: Maintain clear skin, start prevention (e.g., sun damage).

  • Routine: Cleanser, moisturizer, SPF, gentle exfoliation 1–2x/week.

Ages 25+

  • Goal: Hydration, anti-aging, and targeted treatments.

  • Routine: Add serums (like vitamin C), eye cream, retinol at night (if needed), and SPF is still non-negotiable.

No matter your age, sunscreen daily is the #1 most important step for healthy skin. Your healthy skin will make you feel better and look better. See our related blog posts for some all-natural, organic products to get you started!
